Idris Elba Reveals 'The Wire' Secrets: 'We Smoked Weed, Did Strip Clubs'
Life on set was wild!
By Richard Gilzene on Friday 1st June 2012 Photo by Brian To/WENN.com
Idris Elba has revealed life working on cult crime epic The Wire was pretty laid back - if the cameras weren't rolling, the weed definitely was.
Elba, who played iconic drug dealer/businessman Russell "Stringer" Bell has joined the rest of the cast and crew of the show in celebrating the show's ten year anniversary and remembering life on set.
Speaking to Maxim magazine, the British star recalled how the actors passed time during breaks between filming on location in Baltimore, Maryland, admitting: "We smoked a lot of good weed, did a lot of strip clubs. A lot of that."
Michael B. Jordan, who played Wallace, also recalls being taken to strip clubs by Elba, and co-stars Wendell Pierce (William 'Bunk' Moreland) and Clarke Peters (Lester Freamon) - despite only being 14 at the time. "I kind of grew up around Idris and Wendell and Clarke and everybody. I would just tag along, going to strip clubs," he told the magazine, adding: "I became a man in Baltimore with those guys."
I guess I can believe Idris smoked a blunt or two on the Wire set. When you're high, you get real motivated to do stuff (or so I've heard), and you can do it just as well as when you're sober. But I definitely don't believe the part about the strip clubs...Idris only has eyes for me. I'll strip for you Boo!

Don't Let the Prometheus Trailer Fool You!
If you didn't know Idris was in the upcoming movie, Prometheus, you would never believe it from one of the TV trailers out there. I've seen three different trailers for the movie so far, and I can tell you that if you blink just one time during one of those trailers, you will literally miss my boo!
Oh but someone wised up and did a different trailer that focuses mostly on Idris' character, Janek. If you haven't seen it yet, I'm here to tell you that Idris is all up in this movie!
Everyone, please go see Prometheus! It opens June 1, 2012.

One of my all-time favorite jokes is called The Atheist and the Bear. This joke is all over the internet and has been around for a long time. Because the joke is longer than most, I decided to do a short screencast (video) to help you follow along. Like to hear it? Here it goes...

That Lucky Be-yatch (But I love her too!)
So I just heard that Taraji P. Henson (Benjamin Button, Hustle and Flow, Baby Boy) will be starring with my hubby in a new thriller called "No Good Deed." The movie is about a former district attorney (Taraji) and her two small children who are terrorized and kidnapped from their home when she invites a handsome stranger in to wait for help after his car ran off the road. Hmmmm...if that were me, HE would have been the one kidnapped...NOT ME!
One of the directors on the movie is from Idris' tv hit, Luther. Hopefully he knows that no woman in her right mind wants to see Idris get killed off in a movie EVER AGAIN, so I'm hoping there will be a huge plot twist and Tariji's character falls in love with her kidnapper/terrorist. I would.
The movie should be out sometime in 2013. I can't wait!!!!!

Who is Nelson Mandela and Why Do I Care?
Because my future husband is going to portray him in movie, that's why!
Idris has signed on to play civil rights leader Nelson Mandela in an upcoming biopic. Apparently since I am black and was born in the 60's, I'm supposed to know all about Mandela. But I really don't know much about him, and I've never been interested or politically-inclined enough to find out. All I know is that he is a civil rights leader who went to jail for a whole lot of years and has a wife named Winnie (as in "the Pooh"). Other than that, I have no idea what he went to jail for. And if he was that great at leading civil rights then why doesn't he have his own holiday or something?
Anyway, I guess I'll be learning all about Winnie's husband soon! The movie, which doesn't have a release date yet, is called "Long Walk to Freedom," and I will be in the theaters on opening weekend to support my man! I'm soooo proud of him for getting this role! He's a terrific actor and I know he's going to make Mandela proud. I think I feel another Golden Globe coming on! Maybe even an Oscar!

An Ode to Idris Elba Movies
SOMETIMES IN APRIL, my GIRLFRIENDS and I get together for our annual CALL OF DUTY--to kick back with some SOUL FOOD and a couple of martinis and tell CRUCIAL TALES about all the TAKERS and LOSERS in our lives. We have an ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS time eating, drinking and discussing our ONE LOVE: FAMILY AFFAIRS.
The last time we were together, we reminisced about PROM NIGHT and how OBSESSED our classmate LUTHER was with a girl named BELLE MAMAN (who later became his wife). Holy THOR! If a guy even thought about going anywhere near Belle, Luther went AMERICAN GANGSTER on him and the REAPING was a WORLD OF TROUBLE! Diane BRAMWELL told us that Luther has a HUMAN CONTRACT out on a guy named JONNY ZERO. Apparently, Jonny, a badass ROCKNROLLA, had been picking up Belle at THE OFFICE every Thursday night for the past year to go on a secret rendezvous. When Luther found out, he was livid! He turned into a raging, homicidal madman and vowed to HACK off Jonny’s "SILENT WITNESS!" Jonny’s been hiding BEHIND THE MASK ever since, but Luther is relentless. INSIDERS say that Luther has THE BIG C now and only has six months to live. They say if he doesn’t get revenge on Jonny before he dies, his LEGACY to his UNBORN child will be to kill Jonny’s kids. What is the city of PACIFIC RIM coming to??? Do we have to call up the NUMBER 1 LADIES' DETECTIVE AGENCY to get some LAW and ORDER around here? Hopefully those wannabe-CSI:MIAMI cops will get everything SORTED out soon and lock Luther up at the SPACE PRECINCT before Jonny enters the DANGERFIELD.
Well, the VERDICT is in…time flies when you’re having fun! My girlfriends and I went down to THE WIRE during our last gathering and didn’t get a chance to talk about LONDON’S BURNING topic: the GHOST RIDER spotted by the bridge last week. So now we’ve made plans to get away more often. We know our spouses won’t like it, but hey, IT’S ALL IN THE GAME, and these DADDY’S LITTLE GIRLS know how to handle their men! Our next get-together will be THIS CHRISTMAS, and then again 28 WEEKS LATER. And to top it all off, Jackie, who's married to THE GOVERNOR and runs the 2POINT4CHILDREN foundation, insists on footing THE BILL!
Question: How many of these movies/TV shows starring Idris Elba have you seen?

Five Reasons to See 'Ghost Rider:Spirit Even Though It Wasn't All That
Nicolas Cage is back as Johnny Blaze, who is still struggling with his curse as the Ghost
Rider. This time he teams up with Moreau, a French alcoholic, gun-toting
warrior monk (played by Idris Elba aka “My Hubby). Their mission is to save a
young boy from the devil. In return for this, Moreau (again, my hubby) promises
to rid Johnny of his curse.
Ok, so I never saw the first Ghost Rider... can you guess why? And I’ll have to admit that this movie did not get good reviews at the box office. In fact, some critics say it's worse than the first, but what do they know?
Here are 5 reasons you should go see it anyway:
- There is one other person that makes this "Ghost Rider" sequel stand out from the last, and his name is Idris Elba.
- Nicholas Cage and the flaming pee! LOL!
- A great supporting cast with some familiar faces: Idris Elba, the guy who played Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer; A.J. from Empire Records; and Christopher Lambert of Mortal Kombat.
- It’s in 3-D!
- Idris Elba plays a drunk monk warrior!

Welcome!
First of all, there’s something you should know about this site—it is purely all about my future husband, Mr. Idrissa Akuna "Idris" Elba. There will be pictures of Idris. There will be videos of Idris. There will be music of Idris (aka DJ Driis). You’ll also see movie trailers starring Idris, clips of guest appearances made by Idris, quotes by Idris and sightings of Idris. Oh, and did I mention there will be pictures of Idris? So if you are a number 2 fan or more, this is where you wanna be! But haters beware! If you are not a fan of my beloved, then maybe this is not the spot for you! Unless, of course, you are curious, like my future EX (whom I am planning on discarding as soon as I get that ring from Mr. Elba, then you might wanna drop in from time to time to see just how this beautiful, tall, dark and handsome man from London, England has captured my heart! --ELBA is ABLE!
